Here is Carmen my little girl. She is still being weaned. This is when I first got her, I am going to take more pics tonight so I will update with those pics.
Yup that’s me in the last pic. I was showing her, her new home so I took a pic. I had just finished with some help putting it together. I was going to get a maroon cage but she did not like the color.
She was only 11 weeks in the pic’s above. I am going to try to take some of her tonight when I go visit her.
The way her bib comes around her neck...it reminds me a lot of a Vos or a Redisided...it's not defined at all. Pure SI females, the blue across the chest and around back is clearly defined there's hardly any blurring of colors.
A vos female's bib blurs and is a violet color rather than the blue. there is no real definate line like in an SI...hence why I looked at her and thought a cross.
There's nothing wrong with a hybrid, actually most ekkies out there are hybrids nowadays because past breeders either didn't care or were ignorant of the fact that there was more than one type of ekkie. I am almost positive that my Bodi was a hybrid...
Thank you for the info. Hybrid or not I still love her and I don’t think if I new from the start it would have ether. She picked me I wanted to look around more but I was hers from the moment she saw me.
Actually Mik...hybrids are healthly birds. If you look at it from a point of view as most 'pure' strains have those breeders that inbreed...a hybrid isn't a bad idea. Most of them are anyway. Some breeders have no ethics when it comes to breeding...
I get mine from bird shops. Most come from the place I got Carmen the whole back wall is covered in toys. I will take a pic next time I go. The other place is owned by the owners son, his place if just as awesome. Someone (another customer at the store) told me she has to many toys cluttering her cage, I was like have you seen this girl play. If I put a new toy in her cage, she has to check it out. One of the staff thought she was scared or hurt her self one day because she was playing so vigorously that it looked like she was flailing around in the cage. When she went to rescue Carmen, Carmen just stopped and looked at her like do you mind im playing here. You can also get toys online but I prafer to look them over and make sure that they are safe for my birds. Little stings and things worry me; I will let my tiels have stringy toys because they usually just preen them (keeps Mack from over preening himself). The rest of my fids get to wild with the toys I don’t want them getting hung up in them.
She is so beautiful. You are lucky to get her so young. They make such wonderful pets and thanks for sharing the photos!!! Best of luck to you and your new parrot.
She is adorable. I just love to go and visit with Erik's ekkie Patty .. He is the breeder down the road. I make excuses to go see him just to play with patty..
angie
Plus Mickey and Mallory (now placed in a new home as a breeder) the wild females, Mickey is now paired with Kai and they are about to be parronts.
