I just got this little lovely yesterday. I don't know if it's an adult female or a juvenile. Can anyone tell from the photos?
Also, it has two yellow feathers on its head. Are they likely to be random oddities or an indication of something like split pied? I know nothing about the bird's background. Thanks!
I'm not a expert or breeder, this is just what I have learnt so far.
Yellow feathers can be the result of health or diet issues. I'm on my phone so I can barely see photos. I think it is worth taking any new bird to an avian vet for a health check anyway.
I believe they can be naturally occurring also. Our turquoise blue bird has a yellow spot on his forehead and so does his father. The breeder who bred the father doesn't breed pieds and no one has bred the line back to see what comes out, so I have no idea why it is. It could be the result of a hereditary liver disfuction for all I know... I'll let you know in a year when we get another blood chemistry panel done.
