Wow! That's nice to have a little conversation like that. I'm looking forward to the day when Fats might utter his first word.

That place on your back where you cannot reach...

Fats likes to climb up onto shoulders, especially if you try to give him scritches--he just goes up to the should to get away from the hands. But he doesn't like to sit ON the shoulder, he likes to sit BEHIND the shoulder. I admit I don't have the best posture or the best flexibility... So how do I ...

Re: baths

My baby has been home for 2 whole weeks now. I still am trying to get him to bathe. I tried a spray bottle first, but he didn't like it. This weekend, Camo the QP took a bath in a baking dish and we had Fats watch him. After Camo was done, I tried to put Fats in the bath, he was eager to get out! I ...

I love Mr. Pretty Bird :) I have been saying "I can haz cheeseburger" all day. And "Nobody put baby bird in a corner" :) Our quaker Camo heard me watching Disco and had to fly over to me to see what was going on. About 10 seconds after he got over to me and the laptop, he got VER...

And I just parsed Disco's list of phrases on Facebook... I count over 160 words. I even dis-counted different tenses of the same word. I did not discount the same word in other languages.

I went to an avian club in Arizona early this year when I was passing through. The presentation that month was on the budgerigar. What to train my baby

Ok. Fats Waller, my 11 week old ringneck is getting warmed up to the house rather nicely. He came home on Monday and was very quiet. I handled him a few times on Tuesday, by the evening we had a new trick--I whistle, he does his "pew pew" yell. Contact calling. He also learned to climb up ...

Try getting your bird used to you touching it's feet and try to file the nails of your bird no more then a few mm.
You can file them rather than clip them? We have a Quaker parrot that is a bit long in the nails right now--can I just take my nail file to them?
