Hello all,
First off thank you all so very much for all the caring support you've all showered me with. What a wonderful feeling to know so many people care about Byndi and myself and how we are doing! :D :D You guys have no idea how great that makes me feel.

So I took advice from all of you and guess what??? I got the **** bit out of me and I bled but by gosh he sat on my hand for a good 45 minutes!! AND..... I even got to kiss him on his beak with him grabbing my lip between his upper and lower beak and I happily report my lips are still on my face and he never even tried to bite. I got a couple pics., but they are not at all flattering of me so they won't be shared!!!! I also took my nose and started rubbing it up and down his beak and he seemed to like it. So I tried this on top of his head and didn't he drop his head for me to rub my nose on his neck!!! That was way cool. But when I tried to slowly move my hand to his neck he wasn't having that. So I backed off. But how cool is this. I had a heck of a time getting him out of his cage. And that actually happened by accident. But I ran with it once he was out. And I feel we had a good bonding experience. And I ended it on a good note and kissed him on his beak and put him back on to his cage from my hand. And told him what a good, brave bird he was! So keep all your fingers crossed. I'm going to keep trying this! I will keep you all posted!

Once again, can't thank you all enough for all your caring and support! We needed it. And you guys "talked me down"--for lack of a better phrase. Thanks guys! This site is so freakin' awesome! And so are all of you.

Hugs,
Jen & Byndi

Congratulations, the first step is always the biggest and hardest. Now you know the bites arent all that bad, and the most important thing is that they will keep getting easier and easier now that hes learning who the boss is.

You bite the bullet, very proud of you.
Now, you can love your baby. I would give him as much touch as he seemed to want but no more for awhile. Arent there beaks so warm and sweet feeling on the tip of your nose? *giggle*

Be sure, now that you gained alot of his trust today, that you dont accidently approach his cage and spook him. Try to spend as much time with the door open and spray millet nearby talking softly to him as you can. :D

Dont interfer with his sleep though. I learned recently that they require way more sleep than us.

Good job!

:D :D :D

My sister is even happy for you, and she's not on the board! (reads over my shoulder when I laugh at something...)

Now you've taken one step towards breaking the habit of biting! Congratulations! What a thrilling experience to trudge through a hard time and then be able to nuzzle your bird! :)
