This is one of my handraised babies from 2008 season.
I taught 'him' this 'spin around' trick in just a couple of sessions. Clever little dude!

thats pretty cool.
How did you get him to spin the first time to offer the treat?
I have almost taught my guy to shake in one session. Just need to do another one and I reckon he'll have it. It's amazing what he'll do for sunflower seeds.

Shane

Thanks Shane.
I tried something different for this trick....target training.
Well done on yours fella, almost shaking in one lesson. Aren't they a smart bird, irns???!!!!
That is going to be the next trick to teach, shake. I taught my Sun Conure to do it in next to no time.

Hey pinkdevil
do you have any more info on target training?
yeah they are pretty smart birds. Funny thing was, I got him to shake then I gave him a sunflower seed. The next time he was checking my hand first to see where the sunflower seeds were coming from before shaking. They are very curious.

Shane

I just searched the net and youtube for 'target training parrots'.
There is heaps of info.
I found youtube good as you can see what and how they are doing things rather than try to decifer someones written words.
This video is what I did.

Very clever, they do learn very quickly .. I think you should call your bird "she" though

Funny you should say that as I was thinking along those same lines. The 4 bubs in the clutch all behaved like that, could it be that all 4 chicks are girls??
But then I have seen my mature male crouch in the female position and allow the younger bird to be the 'male' role and mount him. Bit strange to witness actually, a proven male behaving like a female.
Maybe he bats for both sides!
