There is nothing wrong with your cage "I think" lol your bird just wants to be outside and FREE!! Think to yourself wouldn't you want to be out of your cage then inside a cage if you are a bird? So it's nothing to worry about.

don’t let him sit on your shoulder too much he could get pretty cocky. only let him on your shoulder when you want him there not before.
do you have toys in there for him??? if you do he might be frightened of them that’s just maybe though. most birds see there cage as their safe haven so they don’t even like there owners putting their hands in. but it could also be as bryan says.

Thanks for ur help, he has one small mirror in there because he loves it...i think it might be because i have him on my shoulder alot, probably more than in his cage! should i leave him in his cage more often? when should i let him sit on my shoulder?

I disagree with Imran. I don't think that allowing your little guy to sit on your shoulder will make him cocky. My Chook is constantly on my shoulder. Until June this year, Chook never even had a cage. I just had a play stand that he hung out on. Of a night he would sleep on a perch beside my bed. We had to buy him a cage when hubby bought a rear projection television set and we discovered the Chook was chewing up the wires during the day when we weren't home
Chook prefers my shoulder or on my knee when I'm watching television at night. He will only go into his cage to feed or have a serious sleep. Naps are taken on the curtain rail.
I wouldn't worry at all. If your bird prefers your company to solitary confinement, could you blame him?
