Hi, I have just acquired a beautiful pair of Ringnecks a handsome blue male and beautiful green female. I have been told that they are ready to breed. They are in an aviary in my backyaard. I have bought a nesting box for them but what type of nesting material should I provide?

Also can they live in an avairy with any other breed of bird? Only asking because I have my finches and canaries together in one aviary, cockateils and budgies in another and my very unfriendly rainbow lorikeets on their own in another.

Thank you for any information

I really dont reccomend putting anything else in with ringnecks ESP if they are breeding. Ringnecks can be very agressive birds.

Darn I knew the answer to the nesting material but I forgot. I'm sure someone else can help you,

I just put in some peat moss and wood shavings (the clean kind you can buy at the pet shop). They get in and dig it all around and make it comfortable.

i second the moss i never use wood shaving for any of my birds it kinda of a pain but i heard that hens usually does remodeling when they are in nesting box. Imran is the only one i know of who has breed in here so i will ask for his opinion. ciao
