Some questions...

Well, not two seconds after posting an intro and I'm at it :)

I've read through the numerous posts about their bluffing and screeching [thankyou, Search bar!] and I just wanted to ask a few more specific questions, and I apologize in advance for repetition of questions:

Compared to a cockatiel, how much louder is a Ringneck?
Noise is an issue, not really for me but for my Aunty who would have to put up with more of the 'early morning' sounds. I saw this discussed somewhere, on Raleej337's thread, and would just like a comparison if available. She was all right with my last cockatiel, who was rather boisterous, but doesn't like louder birds like the resident cockatoos.

Is a large cage with bars just under 1cm apart suitable?

Large as in almost a waist height on me [I'm 5'1] and about 1 foot by 1 foot. I would be able to supply locks for the latches if needed. It's large enough that I can put a swing, a bell and some other toys in it without cluttering, and shouldn't be too small for a Ringneck's tail.

I'm a student, so I'm away from 8:30 to 4:30 Mon-Fri. With appropriate toys provided, would this be too long a stretch to leave said bird in his/her cage?
There would be people at home when I'm gone, either my father or Aunty for him/her to socialize with. I would do as I did with all my tiels, and most probably have him/her out whenever I'm home. At the moment I'm on Christmas break [7 weeks long] and would be able to devote as much time to a new bird [Ringneck or otherwise] as he/she could take.

Thanks for any input, and Merry Christmas!
Acies.

louder than a cockatiel but nowhere near as loud as cockies

the cage sounds ok all my cages are larger but ive seen them happy in that size
& its good that you noticed the tail thing but generally speaking cage wise the larger the better

the average to keep an irn tame is half an hour a day minimum time spent with him so that sounds fine
i hope this helps
