It happens :/ Especially with young pairs.
It IS a learning curve for them, yes instincts, but some catch on slower than others. One of my IRN pairs lost their first young within a day (not feeding it) and raised the other two perfectly fine...
These are things we encounter sadly with raising birds, thankfully as the parents get older they almost always solve their issues.
