Could it be the yellow bird's parents? The baby bird will be green.

please help answer the question About the ringneck flapper color I bought a baby bird, but it's green, although the parents are yellow. Why does the baby bird turn green like the one in the attached picture? :-?

Wow! What a cute little fellow!

It all depends on what genes the birds carry. Even though both parents are yellow, they both carry the green dominant gene which produced a green baby. That means even though your baby ringneck is green, it also carries different genes. Kinda crazy, huh?

I wish I knew more but I don't. I gotta brush up on this stuff. Hopefully more experts will chime in.

Best wishes,

Imran
