Foot rings advise

Hi, we have placed our ringneck chicks rings on and the next day every chich lost the ring.... we had a bit of trouble placing them on the leg as it was such a "tight fit" over the knuckle... im afraid if we leave it another day or two we wont get the rings on they are growing so fast.... any advise would help as we have never placed rings on birds before.

well, maby you could get another breeder to show you how.

Before I try placing rings on the chicks feet, I smear a SMALL amount of lubricant on the inside of the ring, push it on the foot, then wipe of any lubricant. Sometimes to rings do come off. I just try again the following day. It is amazing just how fast these little bubs can grow!
I can't remeber what age I start trying with the rings. The book I have says around 10 days old but I do remeber that isn't the age I do it.
