I was wondering if there was a way I can stop my IRN from squawking all the time. It always squawks when I am in the same room making noise as if its trying to get my attention. It is really loud! I worry about him waking everyone in the house up in the morning when I am getting ready and really don't want to have to keep the cage outside.

Is the cage covered at night? I know what you mean about waking everyone up, when I work night shifts and come home in the mornings , my outside lot start calling and my inside lot start chatting to me. If the cage isn't covered , maybe try covering it the nights that you know you have to get up early to go to work.

I am new to owning a bird but I cover him at night to give him his privacy and let him know we won't bother him anymore. Then in the morning after we start moving around the house 6:oo ish I keep him covered. I hear him he starts making little sounds as if to say ,"I am up now come say good morning." I don't uncover him until his breakfast is ready around 7 - 7:30. Then he is happy and eating.

I just did it and he didn't seem to mind it. He is still a baby not quite 3 months yet so he may change his attitude. Right now I catch him napping all the time and at 8:00pm no matter what he tucks his head and goes to sleep. He is usually asleep when he gets covered but not always. I actually have one side open completely.

There is nothing you can do to make them stop. Sorry! It’s just a birds nature to wake up and chirp and even scream. Chiquita does that every morning but I can’t stop it either. She screams her head off.
