Hello all,
I have been lurking on the boards for a short amount of time but have had parrots before so I was just gaining information about my new indian ringneck.
I just brought him home today. He is 11 weeks, DNA sexed male, blue. His name is wally after a cockateil I had as a child.
He is doing great in his new home!!
Here are some pics to get started! Also, Any information on local clubs in the s.floridia area would be extremely helpful in the future.
Meet Wally!!
here is the cage/toys that I picked up from the breeder for only 50 bucks. It needed a good cleaning and has a little rust, but until I get a nicer/newer one this one works out perfect. Once I get a new one Ill probably stick this one outside as his outside playhouse if he wants some sunshine! (I mean I do live in florida...haha)

Heres a few more snaps of "Wally".
He has been with us one whole week as of tomorrow! He has become a bit cage aggressive, but once he is out he does pretty well. He was calling for me today as soon as I came home too. We were even playing fetch(he throws the toy off the bed and I go get it haha!)
He even tried to mutter something when my husband wouldnt get the toy for him. Wally came up to my husband and would get real close and make little noises like "hey! what about my toy daddy?"
He has been a little nippy, but Ive just been ignoring it. Sometimes it hurts, but what else is new... Im trying to break him of it, but he has been with us such a short amount of time, Im sure it will get better eventually.
He eats fresh foods in the morning and when I get home at night. I always keep zupreem pellets in his house with a small amount of seeds mixed in. He isnt too hot on the pellets.. its the fruity blend.. Maybe I should try a different flavor? Or maybe he will like them eventually? Any ideas?
Anyway,
Heres an update of our toddler in action!

Wally is much better today!
He is being less aggressive and is stepping up on my finger with less reservation.
I took him into the shower with me (I do everyday) and today he was very eager to get wet! He had a nice bath. He cleans up quite well
I also sat with him on the couch and kept him on my chest and just kissed him and scratched his head for about a half hour. He tolerated it very well.... maybe he even enjoyed it haha!
He is such a ray of sunshine in our life.
More pics and info to come soon

Wally got a new cage today! The cage that he was originally in was a last minute thing that the breeder gave to me for 50 bucks.. it was kinda rusty..
Anyway! I got him a new one today from someone locally. Its the same size/style cage but it has a playtop rather than the dome top. He seems to be enjoying the new places to play.
heres some pics of the new cage and him eating cherries (no pit) and corn on the cob.

thanks! Ill tell him... haha!
He is such a baby. We've had him 3 weeks now and every day he does something new. He is definitely more docile towards me than my husband but I also spend more time with him.
Im trying to teach him to whistle. Today in the shower he made a faint 'toot' of a whistle so Im hoping he is getting the idea!

[quote="floridamedgirl"]Ok so I put Wally in his harness for the second time. He did better this time than the first time (last week). I only got one or two little bites from him throughout the whole process of putting it on/off.

I like this one the best
hows the harness training going?

Helllo all!
It has been too long since I have posted. Wally is doing wonderful. We are slowly teaching him to talk, but as of yet all he says is 'wally' and 'whatcha doin??'
Being a good bird parent has proven to be quite a challenge and my husband and I are seeing an inch of what it must be like to have 'real' kids! I will try to post new pics soon. My computer crashed recently and I just got a new laptop so Im getting everything transfered over. Hope all is well!
Jess and Wally.
