thx. Nice pictures. It helps a little bit. It would be nice if you can post some pictures of an adult cobalt violet or some bigger pictures of the tail and flight feathers.
Thx again.

violet.....cobaltviolet
I do not have a pic of a mature bird. this bird on the left was being sexed.
Have you seen a DF Violet? A cobaltviolet is very much the same in the depth of color....dark deep purple.
I would like to see what a DF Violet cobalt would look like.
Where abouts do you live?

O.k......these birds are being surgically sexed by an avian vet.
The vet has to but them to sleep to do this.
Not one of my prefered ways of sexing however this is how it is done.

Are you a breeder? Well it is your choice, Not the way it is.

Yes I am a breeder.
I prefer DNA Sexing.....as it is less invasive.
There are a few means of choice of sexing these days.
Yes it is up to the individual.

Whats the way, That requires less stress
or more humane way?
The only way i tried was samples receive
from mail, But i then realized my bird
would feel pain.

DNA sexing is less invasive but not always accurate. surgically sexing them , as far as I know its pretty muchly an operation? but as you can see from the pic the bird is knocked out for this to be done.

O.k Firstly I said less stress......not more humane.....we are talking about sexing a bird. Nobody wants to put a bird under any stress if it can be helped.

surgical sexing......great as you can find out about sex organs...any problems.... as well as the sex. However you have to put the bird to sleep....

feather sexing....pull a few feathers.....

DNA....a small needle prick on the toe....quick and easy.
As I said earlier it is truely a personal choice.
