I was going about my business yesterday, doing a bit of gardening, and.....






...a beautiful female king parrot decided to check on my progress!

I have not seen any around here, so it was a surprise. Could possibly be an aviary escapee, as she let me get to half a metre away before she hopped to the next branch, but these birds are often quite tame in the wild anyway. She definitely showed all the attributes of a wild bird, feeding on the berries.

It's great when you can see these birds as nature intended them, flying free.

Very true, life stops when I see something like this! Also been getting lots of Musk Lorikeets in our yard lately, our pink flowering gum flowered more than usual this year, and seemed to attract heaps of them.

where do you live that something that beautiful would get to fly free. we only see them in cages here
