Hello my name is Natalie and live in Brisbane, Australia and just got my first baby yellow IRN ( 8 weeks ) names Akoko ( African for noise maker ) and am soooo in love and he ( or she ) but will forever now call him a he, is already super spoilt rotten with lots of love.
I want to know if they like to swim and have to get Akoko a swimming bowl?
Thanks

Hiya NaTully welcome
I was born in Brissy now live down South.
Congrats on your new little "boy"
My ringies love a bath, but most prefer it like a mist from a hose or spray bottle ect. Although my handraised Lutino, (Jasper) decided to swim in her bird bath yesterday while I was filling it up lol
I have young Lutino ringies here that I handraised, they are aprox 14 weeks old and love it when I spray them with the hose.
If you did provide Akoko with a swimming bowl, I would make it a shallow one as my birds don't like to use deep-ish dishes.

I took Pinkdevils advise about the spray bottle and my Siren presents herself at the cage front when i pick up the spray bottle - i am hoping to teach her words like bath so she can tell me when she wants one -lol Until then i just pick it up and if she comes to the front of the cage which is 9 out of 10 times she gets a drenching -lol.
I tried a shallow bath bowl but she much prefers the spray bottle - still every bird is different

Hello and Merry Xmas to you and your new bub! Love the name!!!
Oh and IRNs dont 'swim' they dunk themselves in shallow water. lol. I discovered that they cant swim when we had a little accident in the bath with Jibby once, I was so lucky I caught him, he almost went under! His wings couldnt lift him above the water level.

Just make sure the water is shallow.
