small baby irn

Post by las80 »

It may be nothing but i thought i would ask, well about 10 days ago when
they hatched we noticed that 1 was bigger than the one and it seems the bigger one is growing good but the little one slowly can that be quiet normal

This photo is the 1st day they hatched

this one was the other day

Sorry im not sure how to add photos yet, Do you think i should be worried about the size or is it perfectly normal

Thanks[/img]

Hi las80.

The pics you provided were a bit small to see much but it is very normal for the first chick to be biggest as he is not only older, (they grow VERY fast :)), but he will be getting alot of the food as he will have the "I'm here feed me" response fairly well down pat.
I would be concerned only if the second one doesn't have much or frequently has an empty crop.

Chicks grow at a very fast rate and there is quite a considerable difference in sizes between a chick first hatched to last hatched. :)
