Entertainment. My birds are used to large window views during the day, so when I turn out the lights in the room they are in, I open the blinds so that in the morning they have full view of things and birds etc outside instead of being in a darker boring room.
I also have an alarm radio near by the cage, so roughly 10-15min before the sun rises it starts on a radio chanel quietly.
Birds have an amazing body clock, one that is not like ours in being able to do "shift work". Being an indoor bird they are also not that reflective of the seasonal cycles, often why pet birds moult at different (not too far off though sometimes) months to the outside birds (mine anyway).
Appart from that I cant really suggest anything else, those are the two things that seem to work well for me anyway. Best of luck figuring your little guy out.
