Hi just in the process of getting a cage setup for one hand tamed IRN the cage i want wont fit inside plus their isnt much light inside would it be a problem housing it outside in regards to keeping it tame, of course it would still get regullar handling but im just not sure???

fine since no one will answer that question how about this one. would it be bad for a bird that is used to being inside to have its cage outside.

Sorry to hear no one has helped you.
How old is your new bird?
If your bird has shelter and as your say plenty of attention he/she should be fine.
I think the main reason for a hand reared ringneck to be inside....is that way they are with you all of the time.
Just be careful when bringing inside as that he does not fly away.

thanx for that. Im getting my birdy on the weekend not exactly sure how old it is but has only just started feeding by itself so pretty young

Hi, Just read your message and wanted to respond. I don't think this would be a good idea. I would have a few concerns about having your IRN outside. Two main reasons would be cold weather or predators. They are tropical birds and I don't think they could tolerate extreme cold. My IRN gets cold if it is lower then 74 degrees. Also, there is always the concern about cats and other predators. Please do a little more research about this before putting your bird outside. Michelle
