new irn owner

I was given a IRN and he's quite a cool bird. Is there anyway you can tell how old they are? What is the average life span. I have so many questions and am very glad to have found this forum.
My IRN is, I guess, the normal green. A male. I am his 4th or 5th owner. I think because he is very loud and likes to be on my shoulder or he screeches when he sees me.
He doesn't like men or anyone else when he is with me. He does some odd stuff that I'm sure must mean he likes me. He puffs his feathers all up and shifts his tail back and forth - we're both in love.
I bought a very large cage for my free bird - he seems to be happy. I need to find a vet or someone to trim his nails - I tried trimming one and only took a tiny bit off and it bled - thank goodness it stopped - but I'm not going to try that again.
I have a many questions because I want Rosie to be a happy, healthy bird.
He only says Best of the Best and makes another sound I can't understand - yet. But when he sais Best of the Best he seems to bow - very cute.
Has already pierced my hubby's ear and nail cuticle - hubby doesn't want any more to do with me. Rosie does let me daughter play with him - as long as I'm not in the room.
Is it possible to teach an IRN not to bite?
Oh ya, I've had him for about 6 months and he's never pooped on me. I was told he's cage trained and I think it's true. Because after I've had him out for a long time he immediately poops when I put him back in his cage.
He likes to climb around in his cage but hasn't played with any of the toys I've bought him?
Thanks again for having this forum - I'll try to read the other posts and see if some of my questions are already answered.
Take care IRN lovers!
