Hello guys!
I just wanted to ask you 1 question.
When I feed my irn trough the cage(it is too little to go out) it really likes the apple i give it but when he wants to play(I don't see anger in those bites) it starts to aim for my hand(not aggressively but...for fun I think)
How can I show him that I don't want him to bite? I tap him on the beak and stuff but he thinks we are playing or something.
I don't think it bites because I do something. Infact it is realy calm and playful. It climbs all over the cage and plays but....
Thanks in advanced

Hi there. Giving him a reaction like a tap on the beak is showing him your wanting to play and he thinks its a game. Parrots like reactions, no matter if your screaming and jumping around in pain from a bite.. its a reaction.. and thats what they want.
The best possible way of stopping biting or nipping is just ignore it. Act like it never happened and you didnt feel a thing. Hard to do, when they want blood! But after a while they get the idea, that biting gets them nowhere. Or alternatively you could turn your back and walk away (thats if hes not saying 'leave me alone' in an aggressive way, because then you've just given him what he wants). Another method is to pick him up and place him on the floor where you are much bigger.
But sounds like he just wants to play, but you dont want that kind of play. I would just ignore it. He'll get bored of the game eventually.

Baby's put everything in their mouths so do parrot baby's he may not really be trying to bite just testing to make sure your your a steady pearch or he may just want to see what you taste like. Don't pull away from a bite alway push into a bite and that will usually be enough to stop them from doing it.

Today I though him to stay on my hand.
I open the cage and show him my hand and he decided to hop on
Now whenever I put my fingers between the bars he charges towards them
and now he bites less
I let him chew as hard as he can and he understood I am not so tasty

Good I'm glad things are going well I learned along time ago if you pull away from a bite they just keep on biting but if you push in and say go head and bite its not so much fun for them anymore.
