nesting materials??? help!!!! picky bird.

new to ringnecks. just got this pair they have one egg. prior owner never did find anything she would leave in the box. she kicks it all out. egg is on bare floor. suggestions for nesting material please. they said the only thing they haddnt tried was potting soil??? can you use that? can i offer her material at this point or will it upset her and have her kill the egg????

if you mean newspaper or plain white printer paper yes. wouldnt the ink on the news print be slightly toxic?

Best thing to use is Aspen wood shavings. NO potting soil! Your nest boxes are not deep enough if she can kick all of it out.

A 12 x 12 x 24" high nestbox would suit your IRN.
Provide a welded wire ladder attached to the side leading to the hole.
2 to 3" of wood shavings as substrate will help to prevent
splayed legs in chicks.
Check the shavings from time to time as your tidy housekeeper
might throw them all out. Replenish accordingly.
