The only way a Green bird can produce the valuable mutations is if the actual mutation happens on its offsprings... 1/10 million chance according to Darwin.

Other than that, to breed any mutation, you need to have that mutation present in your parent birds. So, to produce a Cleartail baby, the parents have to be visual or split Cleartails.

Green birds are important because they are used to diversify and "clean up" the gene pool. Most new mutations are small and frail (result of massive inbreeding?) and to re-acquire their size and robustness, they are bred back to the wild-type Greens.

I myself retain large, healthy, and vibrantly colored Greens for my breeding program.

Thank again!
