about half hour ago my bird was on top of the door having a little sleep. he was so quiet that we forgot he was up there and mum started to slowly shut the door while i was talking to someone. next thing i know he's on the ground and his foot is bleeding

:(
He is on his way to the vets right now...i feel so bad seeing all that blood

he still has all his toes, but one of them has a big cut in the top and the bleeding has slowed down but the more he moves the more it bleeds. He's trying not to use it at the moment but the pain must be bad
poor baby....it really was an accident i hope he will be okay...

yes, Hemi had an accident, gashed his foot and now he has a bucket over his head. He is definitely not happy at all!
His foot has been glued up now, so that isn't a problem -at the moment-, but it is the bucket I worry about now! I don't think he'd be able to reach his food and water bowl =( has anyone else ever had this problem with a bucket over the birds head??? I've put a big flat dish in the bottom of his cage with food and water, hopefully he'll go down there to eat and drink.. but even if he did he wouldn't be able to get back up. I don't know if i'd have to hand feed and water him all day.. that'd be really hard...
P.S. Just like to point out that Hemi is both my, AND Hcloost's bird... in case people got confused =)

It's amazing what birds can do even with a 'collar'...
Hcloost... your bird will be fine... just take it easy with him untill he has healed...

Hemi should be fine with the collar, I had a foster IRN who wore an Elizabethan collar because he was a plucker and he did very well, though he did manage to convince me he needed to sleep on my chest the first night LOL
Glad your little one is OK, sorry you had to go through that scare!
