GERTY 18months!!

Hello i bought my hubby GERTY just last tuesday!! for his Birthday, gerty was in a pet shop after its owners decided to emergrate, he was quite active and quiet and we fell in love with him/her not sure yet lol
gerty is quiet and so i found this site and started playing the sounds!! WOW what a transformation, he was parading about in his cage ( almost like showing off i could tell he was REALLY LISTENING and he seemed happier!!so each day since we play the recording and think he is coming round to us better!!
we have a large cage and also a training perch, we have been advised to puit the perch in a corner away from the cage and each time he jumps off to put him back on again ( using a towel to pick him up) the screeches from him are horrendous lol you'd think we were attacking him ( although he probably thinks we are!!!
do you have any tips!!! i find he will take food though the bars from me!!! but if my daughter does it Emily 11 he trys to dodge the food and aims for the fingers!!! clever eh!!

maybe you could try opening his cage and finding some food he likes and sit across the room with a toy and some food and see if he comes over to see what he can steal lol a mirror works with billy where ever the mirror is so is billy. once he is out and figures out your not going at attack him and he gets treats when he is nice and no treats or attention when he is naughty he should feel more comfortable and more willing to come out.
