I'm new to aviaries in general and have not owned birds other than a couple of buggies and 6 chooks ( chickens) which give us 6 eggs every day.
My name is Paul, I live in Hamilton New Zealand and yesterday we put down the concrete pad on which will go our new ( second hand ) aviary.

I guess we are fortunate to have available a two flight aviary which is 3.7 metres long. Tomorrow we hope to collect and assemble it and begin making a new home for Indian Ringnecks. Not too sure yet how many birds or what colours, but we'll know tomorrow. I love blue ringnecks but would be happy with any.

Hi & welcome aboard!

Sounds like your new aviary is gonna be a great size. Isn't it exciting getting new birds. You must post us pics of your new setup and birds when you can.

Today, Easter Monday we have collected our new aviary and been busy all afternoon setting it up. We are expecting our seven new birds early this evening.
A breeding pair of blue Ringnecks plus another juvenile pair, one green and the other is lutino. Plus one juvenile Barraband and a pair of Quail. I don't know the breed of quail as yet.
We feel very fortunate to have been able to source all this from one friend who has been breeding several species for many years and has decided to scale down his breeding operation.

I will post some photos of the new family over the next couple of days.

Floyd, our cat has been very curious about whats going on, we think he can smell 'bird' as the aviary is second hand with a good dose of dried poop and other birdie smells throughout. He looks just like a small jungle cat climbing all over the roof and throught the trees searching for jungle parrots to eat ! Yikes !
