My Mother-in-law is comming back up to our house with Ziggie(parrakete)
I love Ziggie, in fact Gayle found a big cage sitting out for the trash ( 4 days before pickup - -- they wanted someone to take it)>
Doris (Mom)& Ziggie are comming up Fri.
I started cleaning the cage with Hot water & Simple Green (after I took it apart).

Do I have to do anymore kind of cleaning??? Does Simple Green smell too bad for the bird??? I'm trying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE ZIGGIE. Gayle said that he got beak, nails and wings all trimmed for the first time. HE WAS SOOOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!!

I can't wait to see him and I want this "NEW BIG CAGE" to be ready for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TELL ME HOW TO HELP WITH ZIGGIES NEW HOTEL ROOM(IF HE'D LIKE)!!

THANK YOU,
SUEBROWN

:D Hi Sue! Welcome. How exciting, cant wait to see the pics of Ziggy in his new hotel. hehe.
I try not to use any cleaning products when cleaning cages. Boiling water usually does the trick with me. You can buy special cage cleaners over the net or your local petshop might sell them. Some of us use that to clean cages.
Remember to keep the 'hotel' as bird proof as possible (cords on the floor etc.) give Ziggy lots of toys to play with too.
Hope to see you around here.

Welcome

A vinegar wash might be something to try. Enviromentaly friendly and kills bacteria. If you use it, make sure you rinse well and leave to dry outside. Vinegar is recommended to wash new cages and aviaries that have not been "weathered" to remove the zinc coating on some wire here in Australia.
