HI,
Can anyone tell me if Irns and Conures will get along? These two birds came from the same breeder. I recently purchased a 9 week old green cheek conure from the breeder that I got Nikki from. Both of these birds are hand raised and hand fed. I haven't tried it yet. This little conure is so sweet and cuddly compared to Nikki. I just don't want either one to get hurt. My conure is a special needs baby. He/she was born with an upper beak under bite, but he/she eats fine. Does anyone know if there is a way to tell the difference between the sexes of the GCC's? Thanks for any and all help.

I dont know about the differences but what I do know is your a very special Bird Mama for taking on a special needs baby. I give you mad props. It is sad that some wont even take a girl because of the ring, or lack thereof. It is inspiring to know that some of us love our babies good, bad or indifferent. I happen to have a girl. Her attitude is very PMS like and I wouldnt have it any other way. Somehow, her meanesss can be funny but she is only 10 weeks old. She has her sweet moment but they are far and few between. She is me with feathers! And a bite that does actually hurts. Im all bark.

Thank you for that compliment. I am going to try an dintroduce them outside of the cage tomorrow. i have had them sitting side by side since Sunday. Nikki is out all of the time and I let the new baby out and let him/her crawl on me. The little fellow sure likes to snuggle in my hair or under my collar.

I was very surprised when my usually cranky female IRN PeeGee was so patient and gentle with a little baby orphan sparrow that I am hand-raising. The sparow can fly now, and sits right next to PeeGee on her big perch. Even tries to eat her food and take a bath in her birdbath.

They seem to have adopted each other.

Also green-cheeks cannot be sexed visually, only DNA or surgical sexing. ^_^
