Hello. I'm rather new at caring for birds. It all started 2 years ago when my husband found a baby Starling on our lawn. It had fallen from the nest and there are too many neighborhood cats to just leave it in hopes the mama would rescue him. So, he gave the baby into my 16 yr old (at the time) daughter's care. Rhea the Starling is now 2 and 1/2 yrs old and has a vocabulary of over 25 words and phrases. Next came my Budgie, Pixie on Mother's Day just this past May. And then right after Christmas, my husband saw Blue in the pet store. The people there hated him because he was so nasty and nippy. But Blue sang to us and followed us as we walked around his cage. So, they offered him to us half off. We have had him 9 days. And we love him very much. They were uncertain of his exact age but felt he is around 9-12 months. After reading about this bird's need for contact and interaction, I know that with love and patience, Blue is going to be a sweet bird for this family. And now I'm so happy to have found this site. And I'm thrilled to be a member. I'm sure I'll have a thousand questions for all of you more experienced IRN parents.
But we successfully released Bubba. I wish I had known more about them back then.
