I have recently bought my first IRN, and we've had it for about 3 days. The people we got it from said it was 8 weeks old. I was just wondering what fruit to seed ratio to use? Any help would be appreciated. For pics of my new baby please visit the photo forum

I try to give more fruit and veg than seeds. I give mine what ever we are having, today it is mangoes and nectarines. Yesterday it was grapes and apples.

And more veggies than fruit! While fruit has good nutrients, they're not as plentiful as veggies by far.

Birds don't even need vitamin C.

Here's a site I just found that I agree with very much and it is quite informative: http://www.rationalparrot.com/diet.html

I hope it helps. :)

Some of my other favourite sites seem to be down at the moment. :?

We feed something like 60% veggies, 15% fruits, 10% pellet, 10% other foods (egg, legumes, grains, etc.), 5% seed

Our birds aren't flighted. Flighted parrots may need more fat in their diet through seeds.

EDIT: I had to correct the ratio... turns out I feed more veggies than I realized. And mush less fruit. xD
