I've been giving Hane and Tsume a bean mix by Volkman called Featherglow Soak & Simmer- and they LOVE it. I think they would marry it if they could.
They're limited to one teaspoon (measured when dry) each to keep them from binging on it. Their little heads don't come out of the food bowl when they have this bean mix. xD

I just soak the beans overnight and cook them in the morning. I like to put it on top of a birdy salad for them. ^_^ So far it's been a great product. I'm trying the Birdeez Buffet 15 minute Soak & Serve (not beans) but they don't like it quite as much. I think I'll add that to their mash and serve it that way, perhaps they will like that. ^_^

Also, I'm trying to expand the variety of foods they eat so I bought a pomegranate. Tomorrow they'll have a try- but I like it! I'd never had pomegranates before, lol.
I'm storing the little edible bits in the freezer for now, since I already opened it.

cut the top and bottom of the pomegranate of spear it on to a hanging spike, and watch them climb all over it to eat it.

Awesome I am going to try Pom! I tried the Volkman's Soak and Simmer... Mine didn't go that haywire over it. I still have some, I will try it again!

Thats something I've been meaning to try! I have not heard of an IRN that turned the beak up at it.

The pomegranate was quite a success! I don't want them to binge on it and neglect their other foods, so they only get a few arils with their meals, lol. And I like it too. ^_^

Well, the other mix we tried our birds didn't like but the store owner's ekkie loves, lol. It's all a matter of taste, and that's relative for each bird.

And I made their mash today, a special autumn version. Pumpkins went on sale so a bought a few small ones and chopped one up for the mash (including the seeds, squash, zucchini, bell pepper, carrots, and the soak & serve mix by Volkman). I gave them a little raw pumkin to try and they seemed to like it. Can't wait to serve them warm mash tomorrow. We actually have a little bit of a chill coming through.

The dogs take care of anything the birds throw around. Today the mini-dachshund found out he can jump up onto the playstand tray and eat from there!
