we went to visit my bird he still cant come home yet
cuz hes not fully weaned quite yet but the first time we saw him and
decided to put a deposite on him this 1 lady that works
there said they r very freindly birds and so did a freind
of ours she has worked w/ birds 4 a along time but the lady
working there that day said they arent friendly the websites i
go 2 say they r too im worried :? and i dont know who to beleive i
know any bird can be friendly if they r well cared 4 and played with every
day but i dont want to get stuck with a bird tht doesnt want to be handled
plus that day he kept opening his mouth threatening us but when i put my fingure by his mouth he barilly touched me but he wuz definetly trying to scare us my mom says he
wuz just scared because it was only his second time out of the nursery
the next step is him to be brought out of the nersery and to be put into a
cage and to still eat well, and if he eats in his new invironment then he will
be readt to come home! but i want to know...with love and attention everyday
can IRP's be lovable, sweet, and willing to come out and sit on ur shoulder and be petted :?:

Hello IndyRox32903,

I wound not say ringnecks are cuddly like puppies, conrues, or lovebirds; however, they more than make up for it with sheer smartness. A ringneck can become cuddly, but it’s cuddliness according their terms. Please do not misinterpret this as ringnecks do not enjoy being petted—mine LOVES IT!

Ringnecks make fantastic pets if that’s what you’re seeking. I have worked with many parrots, grays, conures, budgies, etc… This list could go on and on, yet I find myself attached to this one specie due their smartness and beauty. I cannot tell you how sweet my male ringneck is. He really enjoys my company and is willing to do anything for my affection. Every day he puts coins in Tupperware and loves to play fetch. He talks to get my attention and the list could go on and on! He is basically a parasite living off my affection.

The lady who told you ringnecks do not make good pets might have not had as much experience with this species. Ringnecks can get nippy, but so do most parrots as well. It all comes down to socialization and your will towards working through the tough moments, such as bluffing or hormonal flares.

Hope this helps,
