Behaviour seems to be a better indicator as to what the sex of an IRN is. Visual is just a guess ( except for ring lol).

Does Oliver cluck with his/her head back? Sexing a young IRN is difficult visually, but I *guess* Girl by the pics, Boy from the behaviour. Confusing! hehe. Are you going to get a DNA test done or wait it out?

Lauren, if they cluck withtheir head back is that female or male behavior? My female tends to do this but I don't know if it is gender specific. Thanks.

They can confuse us! The 'cluck' or 'cooing' is a female behaviour but sometimes they can pick up these behaviour when young and thats why its also difficult to tell even through behaviour. Still, I'm convinced my Yoda is male due to the 'man dancing'. Only time can tell.

no clucking but he dances around his toys and does that little male dance with his wings in like a heart thing. But he hasnt done it in a while. So It is confusing I Think im just ognna wait it out but i am just wanting to know haha

Spreading the shoulders creating a heart shape as you describe, pinning the eyes and hoping around his toys is classic male to me. Pictures are extremely hard to tell from, unless you capture a male or female pose. But to me it sounds very much like you have a boy.
Our pickle displayed once at a very early age, just after fledging infact, and never again until he came in contact with his sibbling again, and again nothing until this weekend when the neighbour brought his sibbling over to play, Pickle began to hop and tap his beak, making the male call, flaring his wings out (from the shoulder) stretching up and tapping his beak down again, pinning his eyes and dancing around the other bird like some tuff heman .. lol .. so cute.

My IRN (Oliver) do the "head back thing" thats typical for female but s/he also do the male dance sometimes so I´m very confused about him..

angie i agree with you
he does do the dance at times like that.
he also paces back and fouth on the purch and i also read that if they stand high of the perch that is also male characteristic
I was thinking male and still male cause he doesnt tilt his head back.
And his head is real flat like a male
ill get some pics later

Thats why I thought Justins was a setter also, because of the colouring in the photo is more red than gold, and I don't know a great deal about dog breeds

hard enough with the birds .. lol
