Datsun and Chevy

Post by Datsun and Family »

Hi all!

Well Datsun has recently gotten a pet... a baby budgie named Chevy. The reason we got Chevy to start with was to socialize Dats as she is absolutely petrified of birds

Ever so carefully and slowly we have been introducing the two and it has gone pretty well. Budgies are known to be pretty aggressive and Dats is a big sissy so I figured the budgie would probably be able to look after himself if it did all turn nasty. But they seem to enjoy their time together with Datsun cleaning Chevy and giving him kisses, even saying "hello" in her drunk old lady voice.

Chevy tells Datsun when she gets too carried away and Datsun is very upset when this happens... she runs away and hides until the budgie follows to make peace again and Dats starts cleaning him again. Its all very cute  (photos to come)

Last night however it got a bit weird! Datsun started regurgitating food for Chevy ewwwww! So they were seperated and now I am unsure what to do... they have seperate cages in different rooms but is it ok for Datsun to try to feed Chevy? Will it hurt her? Why does she do it?

Oh well I guess I will just keep up the supervised visits and take it as it comes. Any opinions are welcome.

Have a great day!

Thats cute, my two budgies and harley are buddies as well. I wouldnt think that that would hurt him. That is a sign of affection, and a sign that they have accepted eachother into the flock. Some times birds will do that to people (um..yum?) its a sign of affectrion. How sweet.
