New Indian Ringneck-need advice

I have had my boy for 1 1/2 month, making him 6months old. On my former introduction I mentioned I had to drive 16hours to get him.
Any help at all would be appreciated; He seems to be overpreening for a baby, could he be about to go through his first molt, and will that also affect the beak? His feathering looks patchy, and I don't know what to think.
P.S I was told 8months for first molt
