Nail trimming.

I've put off trimming Klaatu's nails for a month and finally broke down and did it yesterday. What a mess. Much worse than I had expected. My roommate was totally inept in holding him for me. And Klaatu clench  ed his feet so hard it was impossilbe to get a toe in the correct position to trim. In five minutes of fighting and screaming I was only able to get 6 nails done. Of course I got a bleeder and had no kwik stop. Ended up using flour. I used to have a Moulaccan and triming him was easy as he co-operated and almost enjoyed having it done. I've trimmed many a canary and ofcourse they aren't a problem as they don't have the strength to clench up. There was blood every where and Klaatu stayed mad for about an hour. I suppose it would have been a little better if someone else was holding him but fighting his clenching was the biggest problem.

The next time you trim his nails, just take a small perch 1/2 inch thick --4 inchslong and let him grab that. That way he can't close his claws all the way andit'll be easier to get to each nail.

8) He got a bath and all the blood is cleaned up. He's doing fine today.
