hi all...i'm new

Post by aaren09 »

Hi everybody. I'm new to this site and to the whole owning a bird thing. I have always wanted a bird but I had no idea which one to choose (there were a lot of choices). But the other day I walked into a pet store and saw Pickles...I went home got on the internet and looked up IRN's. I loved that bird and everything about it. So after doing all my "research" I went and got him two days after that. I've only had him for about 5 days, but he seems to be doing good. So if anybody has any stories or suggestions they are more than welcome. This is my first bird and i'm afraid of doing something wrong...so any advice is helpful. :)

Hello and welcome to the avian community! :D

Its wonderful that you have done some research. IRNs make great pets. Just remember 2 words Patience and Persistence. Don't take biting and stand off behaviour to heart. They are naturally timid creatures and you are just as new to them as they are to you. I'm sure you'll find some great information here to help you along the way. If you have any questions please ask. We do love pictures!

Looking forward to getting to know your new friend.

Wlecome to the family :D especially to another Pickle .. well our baby is called pickle, because when we were hand raising him, my daughter thought he looked like a pickle as his pin feathers were just beginning to open into little green tufts.

handle him as much as possible, how old is pickles, was he handraised ? if he will let you cuddle and grab him do it often to keep him use to it, even if he seems to not enjoy it, they get use to it and soon look forward to it.

Interact and talk as much as you can, get him use to your normal days behaviour.

Good luck and post pics!

As you come across questions you have post them so we can answer them, as there is too much to list about these babies here all in one go.

:D
