Someone told me that female birds dont like mirrors. Is this true? I thought most birds did, and anything shiny.
Also, the lady at the bird centre told me that someone told her that if you pluck a feather from an immature IRN's neck, that if it is a male it will grow back pink/red (for lutino's i think). Has anyone else heard of this? I thought it may have just worked for that person because the IRN may have been almost ready to get its ring anyway.
Thanks

i have been told not to put mirrors in a birds cage as they think it is another bird and it can make them harder to tame as they think your taking them away from their mate when you get them out of the cage. i dont know if its true though

i had a cockatiel once and i put a mirror in with him and he/she was totally obsessed with it... it made it harder to get him/her out and do things with.. from what happened there i havent and wont be putting a mirror with my irn. it may kinda sound mean... but yeh. it all depends though, when i had the cockatiel i wasn't home as much as i am now for my irn so it kinda worked getting a mirror for some company ( i still handled and interacted with the cockatiel regulary)...
But i would believe that it does make them harder to tame.

I dont think there is any truth in these myths as they are just myths. I think that person was just lucky it was a boy growing his ring and they just happened to to pluck a feather at that time. I don't understand why anyone would be plucking any feathers to begin with.
