hi i have a 8 month old irn which now has no long tail feathers left it seems as though they could have been broken because i noticed one broken one which hadn't fully detatched. And they all have broken pretty close to the base
I dont think it would be from other birds because his tail feathers don't petrude through the cage (i kept an eye on it).

Maybe he could've done it himself such as plucking but the rest of his feathers are immaculate and well looked after... No signs of plucking from what i can see,. So i dont know what has been happening to his beautiful long tail feathers... but it looks pretty cute lol
Has anyone else experienced this or any thoughts/helpful comments on this.

Young ones sometimes break feathers. Yoda has broken 2 tail feathers so far. One which is still hanging there. I don't think its anything to worry about as the little guys seem to have no fear and aren't very careful just like human children. lol.

I'm wondering if there is any foods that will help strengthen feathers? I was thinking up the calcium? Just a thought.

If you see blood on the other hand, seek help from an avian vet immediately! Keep an eye out.

hey yeah i agree lol. no, no blood at all. It looks like i've docked his tail lol
I don know about food but i think it's him just probably being clumsy and fearless lol

Lately Yodas had a habit of hanging upside down from the curtains railings with one toe. It makes me cringe! Yoda seems to jump right into anything without thinking! Now, Jibby is trying to hang there too but he can't do it and gets frustrated because he sees Yoda doing it without falling. I havnt seen him act like this is years. Seems the older ones are more cautious.
