Help! Is my IRN alright?

Hi! When I first got my IRN back home Nov 2004, he was about 8-10 weeks old and weighed about 120g. His weight then went up to about 134g in Feb this year. Recently, I noticed a drop in his weight and it is about 122g now which is around the weight when I brought him home!!

Is he considered too light for his age. He was borned around Oct last yesterday, so should be about 9 months old.

What is the usual weight of a IRN at this age?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers!

I just spoke to my vet about this last week. My 7/8 month old currently weighs 126g - she was about 120g when I got her at 12 weeks old. Apparently the average weight for a mature irn is 130g. I was worried that she was too fat but she is right on track. Sounds like yours is too. Hope this helps.

Thanks Carrie,

I am planning to bring Hoogie to the vet this weekend, just to make sure he is fine. Probably he overate when we first got him and he is now back to his normal weight, but it will be safer to get him check. I also noticed his poo is a bit breakup. The only thing in New Zealand is that it is hard to find a vet specialisation in birds. Very often, they cannot really tell whether they have problem visually unless they take the birds' samples for further diagnosis.

Anyway, thanks for the information. It does make me more comfortable now.

Cheers!
