All depends on the bird itself. Was he hand raised ? is he relatively tame ?
Tame, take him out straight up, play with him and show him his surroundings.
Untamed, give it a week to get use to the surroundings, then take things one step at a time.

I gave my Yoda a week to settle in the spare room. Then I straight up taught him step up and let him have a wonder around. I'd also hold him in a towel once a day and rub his head. Yoda was an avary baby too. They do learn fast!

Goodluck.
