Well it's almost been two weeks and Billy and (Woman) now called Bell have spent their time inside near me in a fair sized cage. Probably nothing like the aviary they had at gregs, but they seemed to appreciate the cage, food and birdbath so far. Today was my day for trying them on coming out of their cage, since they seem rather settled and happy.

I placed a play gym on the top of their cage and opened the door to allow them to come out on their own, hoping this would pathe the way for their knowing how to return to the safety of their own cage. Bell was first to peer out and actually fly up to the gym. Billy followed out, but on doing so scared Bell and they both had a bit of a scared flight around the room. I let them settle, a second fly around and Billy settled this time on my head.

I allowed him a little time and decided to try and step him up off my head, Wow, he did it perfectly, and stayed on my hand making the most amazing growly, clucky sounds. I then proceeded to make kissy noises and he actually let me kiss his beak. Bell slowly settled down also and I placed Billy back on the play gym, but he insisted on flying back to my head. Before long he was on our shoulders, kissing us and being incredibly friendly. Bell began to come closer also.

after just one afternoon, Billy is the tamest thing, and Bell almost lets us step her up onto our hands. I decided to be more brave with Billy and actually handle him, playing with his beak like I do with the Indian Ringnecks. He lets me grab his beek between my thumb and finger and pull his head down, letting me kiss his head all over, he nibbles our ears and preens our hair. He actually preened the top of my hair so much it looked like a big fluffy nest .. lol.

I can scratch his head and he enjoys it, and I even took him in a full hand grasp and held him on his back and he allowed me to play with his feet and tickle his tummy.

we totally adore this pair, my daughter is over the moon with him, and her boyfriend is also smitten with the little gem.

What a cuptiepie! I wish my Yoda was as tame as Billy when I brought him home. Lots of running around! Billy is gorgeous and really loves sitting on people!

I think its all in the personality. Seems to be the smaller, more cuddly type of birds like lori's, budgies, quaker, conures etc. that like this kind of interaction. Billy just loves to play ! None of my IRN will let me do that, although jordan will let me hold him in both hands and kiss him all over. For the birds not naturally like this, It's a matter of gaining trust and getting them use to it, doing it even if they seem uncomfortable with it until it becomes expected.

lol ... yep Bryan he picks at any bit of skin or mole he thinks shouldn't be there also.

Ya want to see him when he sits on my head, I step him off everytime, but this one time I was distracted and he sat there for a while. I could feel him picking and pulling at my hair. I stepped him off and put him on his cage with Bell and when I went to the bathroom to wash my hands, I had a massive fluffy nest on top of my head, it only took him a minute or so and my head was like a birds nest ... lol
