Been here a month reading, Time to say Hello!

Hello everyone!
I have been enjoying this forum for about a month now. There is so much information and a lot of help for a new IRN owner. My IRNs name is Pete, peg-leg Pete is his real name from his previous owner. He had a broken leg as a baby and it never healed quite right and when he walks he looks like he has a peg leg (poor little guy). I just love him to death! His leg doesn't effect how he climbs on the cage but I think it does effect how he sits on my shoulder, he seems to have a tough time holding on.
His favorite food is apples, corn and scrambled egg. He won't eat any veggies other than corn....yet. Pete has only been with me for about a month and was given to me (cage and all) through a yahoo group for freecycling. (Freecycling, for anyone who doesn't know, is where you can post things that you have to give away to keep items out of the garbage dump and you can post for things that you would like to have.)
Along with Pete came his cage buddie Little Bird. Little Bird is a green parakeet and quite the talker. The lady who had Pete started working more and didn't have time to spend with him so she got him Little Bird for company. They seem to get along great but after reading the post about the Lovebirds being killed by the IRN I rushed right out and bought Little Bird his own cage. Pete seems much happier to have his cage all to himself. He hasn't talked at all for me and I am hoping that maybe this is the change he needs to become more social and attached to me. We had him out quite a bit today and he loves my four year old. I am just amazed. If Pete gets on the floor my son goes right over and Pete climbs up his arm without a fuss. If I try to do the same Pete will flap his wings and fight me a little bit before climbing on. Of course my little boy thinks its great that Petey boy loves him. I think maybe its because Alex is always talking to Pete from outside the cage and Pete is use to his voice.
Well, I guess this is a long enough intro for now. I will take pictures sometime this week and if I can figure out how to post them I will.
This seems like a really good group of people and I am happy to become a part of this community.
