LOOKING FOR ANY INFO AND ADVICE U HAVE!!
HI I LIVE IN ALBERTA CANADA AND HAVE JUST BOUGHT 2 IRN'S, A MALE AND FEMALE THAT I BOUGHT AS A PAIR FROM AN AUCTION AND WAS JUST LOOKING FOR SOME INFORMATION ON TRAINNING THEM,BREEDING AS THAT IS WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN USED FOR BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER, I DO NOT KNOW ALOT ABOUT THEM BESIDES THAT THEY ARE 3 1/2 YEARS OLD AND HAVE HAD BABIES ONCE. WOULD REALLY LOVE TO BE ABLE TO HOLD THEM. REALLY WANT THEM TO TRUST US. SOME QUESTIONS WE HAVE ARE ; ON AVERAGE HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO TRAIN AND WHAT IS THE MOST AFFECTIVE WAY TO TRAIN? ; WILL THEY BREED IF THEY DO NOT HAVE BREEDING BOX SET UP FOR THEM? WHEN DO THEY BREED AND DOES IT MATTER WHERE U LIVE FOR SEASON? I HAVE MORE QUESTIONS THAT I WILL POST UP LATER THANK YOU FOR UR HELP JAMIE AND ADAM

Firstly, congratulations on your new purchase. Indian Ringnecks make wonderful pets and they are fascinating to watch during their breeding season.
Welp, you had mentioned that you wished to train them. If you wish to do so, you might have to separate them. The best approach towards taming breeder Ringnecks is though positive reinforcement. If you don’t know what it is, join this group: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/Bird-Click/
If you decide to train your Ringnecks it can take a long time to do so. It can be a long process and can take weeks or years for them to trust you. You’ll have be consistent and take very small steps towards winning their affection.
Also, I believe their breeding window has almost passed for Canada. Mine have already gone through two batches of babies and should finish their second in May. If you wish to breed, I don’t think they will try due to being relocated. You’ll have a better change next year. So, to answer your question, it does matter if you house the Ringnecks outside. Most Ringnecks lay around the rainy season. Inside the house can be anytime of year—I believe we do have some members who breed inside here…hope they can help you.
Ringnecks do need a nesting box to breed. In my own experience, I have never had a hen breed without a nesting box.
Hope this helps and welcome to our ringneck community!
Best Wishes,

THANK U FOR THE GREAT INFORMATION , WE ARE VERY NEW TO THIS AND REALLY WANNA KNOW ALL THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT THESE SWEET BIRDS. WE HAVE BEEN READING ALOT OF THE FORUMS ON HERE AND ARE VERY EXCITED AND CAN'T WAIT TILL OUR BIRDS ARE AT THE STAGE THAT WE SEE THEY ARE CAPABLE OF GETTING TO. REALLY WE ARE STARTING TO THINK THAT OUR BIRDS WERE JUST USED FOR BREEDING AND NOT REALLY HANDLED OR PLAYED WITH AT ALL BUT WE ARE GOING TO CHANGE THAT AND SHOW THEM WHAT LOVE IS ADAM AND JAMIE

Hang a nest box quick! They may still breed especially if it still rains and is not warm at your location. I've had pairs lay as late as May. It only works to your advantage that they have bred together in the past especially if your pair hasn't started moulting yet.
As far as training as pets, you have your work cut out for you. However it is possible.
Best of luck to you.
