been browsing around for a while now and finally joined. i have a question about branches, are gum tree branches ok? have done the search here and havent seen anything about gum trees. but then again i am a bit blind sometimes.

Hun, welcome first of all! Awesome family we have here.

Unfortunately... I am one of those over-protective types that dont experiment. Too bad for my birdies huh?

But some here can give you birdie bread recipes (they love that stuff), many plants they enjoy... I just dont take the chance.

We have two hibiscus bushes, beautiful, at each side of our garage and I sometimes put my babies in their for pics but even then I dont let them chew.

My poooooor babies. I let them have no fun.

over protective is always good tho. no dead birdies. haha

I'm guessing it would be fine. My budgies LOVE eucalyptus--leaves, branches, etc.

Someone will come along and jog my memory. I'll google it as soon as I can to see if I run across it. Its as easy to grow as pothos.

Kind of like cat nip for kittys.

Welcome. I have heard that gum tree branches are safe, but would look into it more before using them JMO. I don't use them anyways, got rope, cholla cactus and calcium perches in my cages.

My vet told me Gum tree branches are fine. Are you in Australia?

Ive been meaning to pick up some fallen branches from the beach scrub across the road.

Clay perches are great for trimming those long nails aswell.

Gum seems fine, bottlebrush is even better.

I need to go raid my neighbors' yards -- I forgot you had mentioned bottlebrush before. Also find it amazing that I have a palm tree, oak tree and pine tree in the yard and no eucalyptus! Good weekend project -- will go foraging <g>

Don't use oak or pine though . If you find bottlebrush use the flowers as play toys for your IRN, they love pulling them apart and stripping them down but it's messy.
