hi, as far is i know my irn is around 3 months old. the problem is he doesnt eat from peoples hands. Every time i try he just lunges at my fingers, then knocks the food out of my hands. the thing is he will accept food if it is regurgitated but wont touch it if its not. Any suggestions to what im doing wrong?

Sorry mate, havent come across ths before... Hopefully someone on here who breeds birds might have some insight?
But, my advise would be just to hang in there and keep trying, if your birdy is still new chances are he isnt completely comfortable with hands just yet.. So keep being pushy and hopefully you'll see some improvement

Im guessing this bird is not weaned?
My Yoda is 3 months old and eats anything it can now. The first few days he didnt eat anything and I tried feeding him mushed vegies and oats with no luck. He just chucked it all over me. Eventually after 3 days of not eating he tried the vegies and seed in the cage. Now all he wants to do is eat everything. Even my Gilberts food.
Try holding him and putting a piece of food in its beak. Sometimes force prevails. Hopefully he will get curious and try munching on food in the cage.
Sorry I'm not much help on weaning.

i probably didn't explain properly. s/he eats the food in the cage, thats not the problem. the problem is once it is outside it wont accept food you give it as a treat etc. however it will only accept said treat if its regurgitated. I've tried a bit of force but so far no luck.

If he will interact with you outside the cage, maybe just give him time until he will take regular food. Sounds like he is eating well where he feels "safest".
