I would start by NOT covering his cage. Ringnecks dont dig that.

From my experience IRN's dont like change. Keep the day a routine. I'd take him to the vet aswell. Could be a health problem.

In general IRNs don't pluck...get him to a vet soon! Usually it's something wrong physically...

I was wondering how much a vet visit costs for a bird?

I just had my IRN to the vet today. He is 3 years old and last week I thought he was going through another molt. WRONG!! The vet said it could be hormonal. The poor bird was plucked bald in a day. They took blood samples but I won't know the results for a few days. Giardia was another thing they tested him for. Now he is on a antibiotic for 14 days and I can give him childrens Benadryl for the itching and discomfort. My whole vet bill come to 200.00 dollars but well worth it if ya ask me.
Funny thing though, I know for sure he is a boy now cause the vet said his testicals were enlarged

(men)LOL
Don't wait any longer to get your bird to the vet, they can go down hill fast.

wow!! My ring neck will be a year in april and mine seems to just chew his feathers off his wings he grooms them but now i can see at the end of his feathers on his wings there gone just the stubs there. My vet said mostlikly mine is boared or stressed i have tried new toys and mine is out of cage almost all day unless i am gone. he has a play gym and i have tried every thing. I am having a hard time telling if mine is still pulling the feathers off his wings because i was told they wont grow back tell he molts again and gets new feathers there and loses those old onesmy vet said that is that true i am worried it might be something else.

Get your baby to a vet asap. Plucking or 'balding' is a sign of health problems aswell. Might also just be something in the room he doesnt like.
Its worth spending the money.
Donna: I didnt know birds can have erm.. enlarged testies? Hope he gets well soon.
