HI I JUST BOUGHT A IRN FROM MY FRIEND THE OTHER DAY AND MY??? WAS HOW LONG BEFORE HE WILL COME ON MY HAND OR I MEAN WHEN WILL HE LET ME PICK HIM UP?. 
Does your new bird now the command, "Step Up"? If it does and you are comfortable with your bird and it with you, you can ask it to step up anytime. If your bird doesn't know this command, you can teach it by holding a stick/perch in front of the bird and asking it to step up. When the bird does, make sure you praise it, you can even offer a treat if you would like. The key is being consistant and patient. I've had Kazoo for almost a year and to this day, I still ask her to step up or step down.
