at 20 monthes

Post by Darlene »

I know DNA is supposed to be the only sure way of learning the sex of an IRN. I have not yet had a DNA done. But my Luna is now 20 monthes old, and I see no black ring yet. There is a charcoal grey ring. And Luna puts his\her head back, sticks out the little chest and does a cute little clucking sound when being petted or to show affection. I have heard this is a little female thing....so cute! So without a DNA at this age, should I assume Luna is probably a female? It doesn't matter to us, Luna is an only fid and spoiled. :)

Life Jewel Pendant

Post by Darlene »

I am passing this on for anyone who is interested. This website is where you can learn about a sterling silver pendant with your IRNs or any pets DNA inserted in a sterling silver jeweled pendant with chain. This is a great unique gift idea. website is:

Qwennie! No he doesnt!? That manly thing takes on a female stance and clucks!?

Thats it, I'll never give another opinion. hehe

Like my sticky post says!!! DNA ONLY WAY!

I know of another male, that looks very FEMALE (I honestly dont believe it is a male and wont until I see a ring or the lord descents to tell me) that really had us fooled. All female yet DNA was said to come back Male.

I question the validity of that particular test, and or the posters word but nonetheless, we shall wait and see. Whether or not we see a ring is a whole new ball game. :o

Gender roles for the fids aren't set in stone...but there ought to be a start of a ring by now but you never know, it's has been known to take 3 years

I was just thinking, if Luna is 20 monthes now, if I should just wait a few more monthes for more signs of gender. But I just get curiouse sometimes. I will see what the avian vet says, his next maintanance visit. The cost for DNA here is $65.00 plus office call etc. We really don't care if Luna is male or female....as long as it is one or the other :P Luna is our spoiled little fid and the boss around here

At 20 months I am compelled to think he would be at least on his was to ringing out.

My baby is 17 months old and is almost finished ringing. You know... the little bird everyone said was female?

Yeah... that one.

Heres his progress thus far, at 16 months.

Does Luna have any of the black like you see in Baby? Or red specks?
