My male Eclectus Rowdy would go wild every time I vaccumed. He's start to scream, it's the only time he did sceam and jump in his water dish and flap away, and stick his head in the dish. I used to wonder if it hurt his ears or what.

Always made me laugh. He'd see the vaccume and head for the top of his cage that had a play gym with a food cup and water cup. He'd be pinning his eyes and hold his wings out waiting for me to start the machine so he could start screaming and flapping.

I always laughed too.

Well I read on a few eclectus sites and an ekkie book that the sound of the vacuum, for some reason, reminds them of the rain so it triggers bathing instincts. Jazzypie hasn't done it yet, but I closly monitor her when I vacuum. Can't wait til she does this!

Anywho, nothing to worry about.

I've also read in a Bird Talk magazine that the sound of a vacuum reminds them of thunder which in turn means rain which in turn means bath time. So... Byndi and Remmi go nuts when you sweep and try to bathe. And Byndi has a water bottle. If that isn't funny to watch the poor girl trying to bathe with a bottle.
